Lissa's cake

picture-1

Check out the cake that my friend's mom made for her birthday! The design is based partly on a Livejournal icon I made for Lissa ages ago:

I'm hugely tickled that something I drew got put on a cake. Lissa has the coolest mom.

If you tried to get into Blatherings earlier today and couldn't, by the way, it's because I stupidly let my Blatherings.com expire (!). Yes, I know. Everything should be back now, I think.

My new card designs have arrived!

My new card designs arrived, woohoo!

Woohoo, my new Blush card designs have arrived! Blush had commissioned me to do six more for the Ohi line. My cards are now being distributed in the UK, Japan, France, Australia, the U.S. and Canada.

I've reopened my Etsy store after its long hiatus to make these cards available. I've also reduced prices on all the paintings as well as making the full set of all 16 cards available at steep discount (when you buy all of them at once).

My letter of the day:

i just wanted to tell you how much we love this card...we live in toronto but I actually bought it in South Yorkshire on a holiday to visit my grandma. We bought it because my three year old looks JUST like that, and recognized herself right away. What a surprise to find that card when I was browsing my "shoplocal" toronto thing! My gran lives in a really small place called wath upon dearne. I couldn't stop myself from letting you know. We've got the card framed on in our living room. - Sonia

NOTE: If you happen to see my card in a shop anywhere (offline), please do let me know! And if you take a photo of it in the shop, I'd love to post as well as helping promote the shop -- so please also include info about the store location. Thanks!

Postcard Project: In 1000 years, what will the world look like?

Postcard from Sib

Got a package from my friend Sib, and it included a bunch of postcards like the one above. What a cool project idea!

If you go to http://www.in1000years.com, you can find out more about Sib's postcard project and how to contribute. I'm going to be bringing a bunch of the cards to Consonance in a couple of weeks, so feel free to ask me for one!

More info about what else Sib's package contained in a future Blathering...

Trek across the lake

Listening to the ice

One of the highlights from our visit to the cottage this past weekend:

Lying in the middle of a frozen lake in Algonquin Park, listening to the boomBOOM muffled cracks of the ice.

When cracks started appearing around us, I got a bit nervous:

Cracking ice

Jeff reassured me that the ice was safe and the cracks were only on the surface, and I decided to believe him. It was the easiest crossing we've ever had. Though we had to be careful of our footing, it was fun to slide across the smooth surface, the expanse of smooth ice stretching around us in all directions.

Lake ice

When we got back, I found a package waiting for me from Sib! More on this soon.

Cajun Squirrel Chips?

Cajun Squirrel Chips?!?

This anonymous (no return address or note) package came for me in the mail today. I haven't yet worked up the nerve to actually try them. Heh.

So 'fess up...who sent this package? I notice it came from the UK.
