Card sightings in Paris, Vancouver, and Toronto!

BlushCardsParis

My sister and her family recently went to Paris and as they were strolling past a Gibert Joseph bookstore, one of my nieces spotted a whole rack of my Blush cards! You can see them on the far right of the photo above.

How cool is that?

Not only that, but some of my friends have seen my cards elsewhere as well: Kristen came across my cards in Pulp The Paper Gallery at 348 Danforth Avenue in Toronto, and Brooke saw them in the Vancouver Art Gallery:

Supposedly my cards are also being sold in Japan, England, Australia, and the U.S. -- if anyone sees them, please do let me know!

Toronto Garbage Strike Begins...

garbage-local

The Toronto municipal workers' strike has begun, and Toronto-types are all crossing their fingers in hopes that a settlement can be reached soon, especially with the upcoming warm weather (see forecast below). I was inspired to doodle the cartoon above after reading a Toronto Star article about how the strike is affecting the operation of kid-friendly venues.

Thanks so much to my dad for taking some our trash out to the suburbs with him...on Father's Day! Now that's true parental love. Cooking with my dad was fun; I'll try to post some pics soon. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Beckett Art

Beckett Gladney Art

Yay, the art I ordered from Beckett Gladney's Etsy store arrived! It actually arrived a while ago, expertly packaged and looking even more gorgeous in real life than on the computer screen.

Beckett's added more art and photos to her shop, by the way, so I encourage you all to go visit RIGHT NOW. Check out this gorgeous batik case:

Knitting Needle Case by Beckett Gladney

She's labelled it as a knitting needle case, but I can so easily see other uses for it.

My Blatherings revamp is coming along as I tweak here and there. Still working on the header.

Painting on the iPhone -- plus more Evil Squirrel tidbits

Wow. I'm impressed that artist Jorge Columbo had the patience to paint the image above on the iPhone; he used a $4.99 iPhone app called Brushes (which, of course, I was compelled to immediately buy).

But back to Evil Squirrels and gardening...

Thanks for pointing out that lavender CAN be eaten, everyone. David even posted a recipe for Honey and Lavender ice cream

Lots of advice on how to keep the squirrels away, including using (er...thanks, Margaret! :-D) human urine. But I was most amused by the following exchange of advice from my friends John Chew and Bruce Macintosh:

John:
I’ve heard people recommend sprinkling blood meal on the soil to keep squirrels away, but that presumably doesn’t work on carnivorous vampire squirrels.

Bruce:
Blood meal? Are you kidding? That’ll set off a feeding frenzy. Were the “people” who recommended that 7 inches tall and furry?

Heh. :-)

Artbeco is on Etsy!

Beckett Gladney Etsy Store

My friend Beckett has (finally, yay!) launched her own Etsy store. Do go over and take a look...but don't wait too long! She just opened her shop yesterday and over half of her inventory has already sold. Prices range from $5 and up.
