raccoon

Met Jodi and Allison last night and we had a very relaxed evening at our favourite sushi hangout, rehashing the con. When we finally got to Allison's, there was a baby raccoon wandering nearby, looking very lonely and scared. A neighbourhood child told us the raccoon's mother had been killed by a car. Allison's husband John lured the baby raccoon into a cat carrier with some food, and then called the Humane Society. We named him Oreo. :-)
Site of the Day:
Du Maurier Jazz Festival starts tomorrow! Runs from the 20th thru 29th. I saw them setting up the Du Maurier stage a couple blocks away from here yesterday.

oreo

Oreo has returned to the wilds of Thornhill, Allison reports. Belated thanks to Howard (Pretzel Guy) for the yummy pretzels! And to Sherman for his mouthwatering message. There are seven sea monkeys left in the aquarium, by the way. They seem pretty frolicsome, and I'm thinking of venturing into some of the more advanced chapters of my Official Sea Monkey Handbook (the one on How To Hypnotize Your Sea Monkeys, for instance). Site of the Day: Barbara's Tales of the Wooden Spoon (urban legends).

Saw Jolson with my friend Cathy last night...fun musical, though the music isn't my favourite. Site of the Day:
Toronto Trek (July 18-20) our next convention. Congrats to Allison, who got the school transfer she applied for six months ago!

a blathering

Allison said she was saddened by the lack of a blathering today (Allison, I didn't know you cared!) so here I am. Amber has been updated! My sea monkeys are thriving! My herb garden is wilting! (pause while Debbie rushes to water her greenery). Thanks to Joe Neff for letting me know that this week heralds the 86th anniversary of the Oreo Cookie! (Joe, I tried the URL but got a File Not Found).
Site of the Day: Dave Does Silly-Con Valley - a photo-adventure from our sound engineer, David Goulden!
