Musicreader for iPad

After I posted about the iPad, someone from Musicreader added a comment letting me know that Musicreader is developing an iPad version. In their poll, they ask if users think the iPad screen size is going to be large enough for reading music. I told them that it would be difficult to tell until I actually tried. For my uses, I think it'll be fine -- I plan to scan my sheet/lyric music and use my iPad instead of lugging big binders of printed sheet music to filk music conventions. For performing, I'll scan the enlarged versions of lyrics/music that I currently use in concert.

This is for you, Cousin Joey

From Memory Box
As I've mentioned before, I used to keep "memory boxes" -- a shoebox containing memorabilia from a particular year. Fun at first but impractical as I got older. I finally decided to go through all of my memory boxes, do a lot of purging (what on earth is this thing and why did I keep it?) and keep a small percentage. I recently posted a poll on Facebook saying that I was considering trashing some cringeworthy poems written in childhood (and in crayon). Most urged me to keep them. Joey Shoji ("Cousin Joey") encouraged me to post them online so my friends could help me decide. Hence this post. I'm trying out Google Picasa instead of Flickr because I'm comparing the two services. You can click on the image above to see a bigger version. Holy cow, I was angsty. And probably mad at my parents at the time, judging from the theme. Heh.

Chicken, Pig, Cow and the Purple Problem

Chicken, Pig, Cow and the Purple Problem My sister's newest book, Chicken, Pig, Cow and the Purple Problem, is now in bookstores. And woohoo, she dedicated this one to ME! Dedication If you're confused about the squirrel reference, feel free to do a search for the word "squirrel" in this blog. :-) Sorry for the weird lighting in the photos above. I was scrambling to get them online so I can brag. I'll post better photos in the near future. For more info about my sister, Ruth Ohi, see RuthOhi.com.

Happy Birthday, Jeff!

2006-jwr-regatta.jpg Five years ago, I came up with a list of 42 Things I Love About Jeff. I could easily have made this list longer but one of the things I love about Jeff is the fact that he would know why I chose the number 42. Before I wrote this post, I read over the list and I love the fact that very little has changed (except for the fact that the potential list could be much, much longer). His smile still makes me melty at the knees. He's still there for me when it counts. Next year we'll have been married for 20 years. Happy birthday, husband of mine.
