Toronto To Japan is a Toronto-based ad hoc collective of Canadian artists, musicians, writers, activists and business leaders organizing events to raise relief funds for victims of the earthquake/tsunami in Japan.
So many events are being planned! Upcoming events include: an art gallery show, film screening, restaurant outing, bake sale, sushi making and concerts...with more coming. Do check the blog regularly for more news:

It's been so long since I've done any non-digital painting but I was inspired to take out my acrylics and attempt something for the Art For Japan fundraising effort:
While I had my acrylics out, I decided to paint something to put into the Interfilk/convention auction at FilKONtario in a couple of weeks:
The middle bit is actually a mirror, which I've covered over with tape to protect it from the paint.
And then I started experimenting with glazing, a technique where you lay layers of very thin washes over each other to gradually build up color:
I'm going to add a monster to the above, I think.
Of course. :-)
Launching at FilKONtario (April 1-3 in Toronto):
URBAN TAPESTRY: BEHIND THE MUSIC (A Mockumentary)
Produced & edited by John Durno (of Brains on Toast (B.O.T. Productions). Pseudo-history of my filk music group, narrated by Mark Bernstein.
The image above is a draft of the back and front covers of the DVD. I am going to fiddle with the colors a bit plus need to fill in the running time, which is about 35 minutes.
I've donated a handwritten, hand-illustrated custom poem and a selection of writer greeting cards to the Writers for The Red Cross effort this week. Please do read my Inkygirl post.
