tolkien for kids

Update 11:58 am: Called to confirm my Air Canada flight, and it's been cancelled. :-( My return flight was also cancelled. Looks like I can't leave until tomorrow (I've been on hold for ages and am trying to re-book now)...

Update 12:17 pm: Called Andrea to tell her the news, and she suggested taking a flight to Dayton, OH instead. Yay, I'm still booked to fly to OH tonight! To those flying to OVFF from Toronto: I advise you to confirm your flights, just in case.

Leaving for Cincinnati this afternoon. I'm looking forward to visiting with Andrea and Tom, and meeting Nicholas for the first time. :-) I'll also be visiting the offices of Writer's Digest on Thursday, then going to OVFF on Friday.

Heard some unnerving news today: Jeff's parents are on their way home from Rome right now, and apparently a known terrorist got removed from the plane just before it took off. We're still waiting to hear details (Jeff's picking his dad up at the airport around the same time he's dropping me off for my flight).

Anyway, I'll try to Blather from Andrea's place and/or from OVFF. If I'm not able to, then I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll talk to you again early next week!

Blatherpic:

Yesterday afternoon, Jeff and I met Annie, Sara, and Ruth at Indigo bookstore. Annie and Sara are completely nuts for anything to do with the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie.

After we got back to their house, both Annie and Sara "performed" the trailer for us. Each knew all the words in the trailer. Annie's version (see photo at bottom) included a lot of sound effects and props, and she even had the "boom boom boom" bit when the Orcs start approaching (she emphasized each "boom" by jumping up and down very dramatically).

Ironically, neither Annie nor Sara will be seeing the movie in the theatre. They are both waiting for the video to come out so they can fast-forward over the scary bits. :-)

Today's Poll: (Courtesy Jeff)

Do you mainly use Mac or Windows when on a computer? ("Yes" for Mac, "No" for Windows, if you use both systems then choose the one you like the best)
