cool dad

My father is visiting Japan right now, and has been e-mailing me daily photos (taken with his digital camera) and updates on what he's doing over there. I'll post some of them if I get a chance. In his last e-mail, he was telling me about seeing a commercial advertising a well-known sports shoe company in Japan. The name of the company? ATHLETE'S FEET (some companies over there use English phrases for some reason...obviously this one didn't have a very good English translator).

The fact that I can see what my dad is seeing and correspond with him every day while he is Japan amazes and delights me. Ten years ago, we might have exchanged two or three postcards. I love the 'Net. :-) I also can't help but be darned proud of my dad, as well...how many guys in their 60s are travelling halfway across the world with a laptop and digital camera to keep in touch with family back home? I have such a cool dad.

Annie called me today to say that she was going to be Flick (from A Bug's Life) at Hallowe'en.

Smart Computing magazine has apparently included Inkspot in their November issue. At first I thought the e-mail message was a scam because the person encouraged me to use their icon link...I'm always suspicious of web awards who tell you something like, "Congrats on the award! Now provide free advertising for our site by linking to us!!" Jeff checked it out, though, and says they're a real print publication. I have to remember to go out and buy a copy. :-)

Didn't get a chance to put together my office furniture last night, sadly...Jeff and I had pre-Inklings work to finish up. In it, I posted the news about Jeff leaving his job to come work for me, and also invited people to post opinions about couples working together. If you have an opinion, feel free to post as well! :-)

Jodi and Allison are coming here for practice tonight. We've decided to have a practice at my place once every three weeks instead of me always going up to Thornhill. I'm actually COOKING tonight, a chicken stew sort of thing. I only hope my music partners survive the experience.
