golden thai

And now back to your regularly scheduled Blather. Scott's gone off to do conference stuff. Rand and Adam went home after having dinner last night with Jodi and Allison. Yesterday, we had lunch at the Golden Thai (at Church & Richmond), and Jeff met Adam for the first time (I could tell they were getting along all right because of how hard Jeff was laughing). Jeff met Scott the previous night and they did the technonerdboybondthing (techtalk session). He was already predisposed to like Scott because of the "I Play Magic Now" song, of course :-). After everyone left, I went out for dinner with Cathy and some other friends last night to celebrate her birthday...had pizza at El Frisco's on John Street - yummy! Today's sites are plugs for Scott's and Ookla's new albums: Bardic Lug (Scott's tape), and Less Than Art (Ookla The Mok's CD).

last scott day

Had brunch with Scott, Jodi, Allison & John today...they're off doing touristy stuff now. Scott flies home later today. Went to see Seven Days In Tibet with Jeff last night. It was okay, but I'm not a great Brad Pitt fan. Back to work....

e-mail

Catching up on work and email today. 99% of all my email is from people asking me for something (for information, to update or add links, to look at a website, asking for advice, asking me to buy something, to do something, etc. etc.). This is understandable considering Inkspot/Inklings provide a service to subscribers and users, but from time to time it's nice to get personal email. I tend to horde these messages like mini chocolate bars, spacing them throughout the day as little rewards for myself whenever I feel like my brain's going to explode. Is that sad or what? :-) TODAY'S SITE: Today's Space Weather.

u2 concert

Jeff and I went to the U2 concert at the Skydome last night but only stayed an hour. The sound wasn't very good (or at least we didn't find it great)...it was nearly impossible to make out any lyrics, and the immense "wall of sound" effect was hard on the ears after a while. Jeff's much more of a U2 fan than I am (he even likes their newest album, which a lot of U2 fans apparently aren't as keen on), and even he was ready to leave after a short time; he said he could barely recognize his favourite songs. I went to the U2 concert for the same reason I went to The Who and Marillion concerts earlier this summer, but I enjoyed those far more. Ah well, the U2 concert was worth going to just to attend my first Skydome event (yes, I live a couple blocks away and had never been to any of the Skydome events) and also to see the Really Huge Crowd Having Lots Of Fun (the concert got great reviews, apparently). Wish we had paid less for the tickets, though. THREE MORE DAYS UNTIL OVFF. SITE OF THE DAY: Anne Walker's "Witterings" :-)

ut comic

Actually updated the UT Comic again. I've discovered that I'm much more likely to keep this updated if I do the comics by hand and then scan them rather than create each one in Painter. As a result, the comics aren't going to look as polished (since I'm basically scribbling them out same as I would at conventions), but at least they'll be updated more than once a year. I quite like my Paperport...I've created a new scan setting called "Cartoon" which basically scans at 1-bit, 200 DPI, directly into Painter (so I can add the header, etc.). I'm going to Internet Expo at the Toronto Conference Centre this afternoon. Sent out Inklings today...this issue features "A Beginner's Guide To Horror" by Paula Guran (in honour of approaching Hallowe'en, of course), and an advice column by Lee Wardlaw (children's book author). INTERFILK STUFF: This year, we'll be donating an Urban Tapestry Emergency Stress Relief Package to the Interfilk Auction at OVFF. Perfect for anyone going through stress/overwork, or makes a great present for anyone you know who could use a bit of Silly Fun right now. Contents include: finger paints, a Growing Brain (gross but fascinating), a mini Etch-A-Sketch, assorted noisemakers, silly toys, soap bubble kit, stress relief ball, glow-in-the-dark Silly Putty, and of course...CHOCOLATE. :-)
