lilith fair

Lilith Fair was lots of fun in spite of the rain. I mainly went to hear the Indigo Girls, but it was also great to hear Shawn Colvin and Sara Mclachlan as well. We had lawn seats near the back, making it a bit difficult to see the performers but did put us fortuitously near the event merchandise tent. I bought a Shawn Colvin "A Few Small Repairs" songbook, Tanya bought a Lilith Fair t-shirt, Dave bought a cool and probably breathtakingly overpriced cap. The Indigo Girls were great! Their final song was Closer To Fine, and most of the other female performers came on stage to perform the song with them.
Site of the day is an article from The Onion called
Hunter-Soldier From Future Warns: 'Beware The Digital Pets'. Today is Mark Osier's birthday!!!
Feel free to hassle him about it

r.i.p. herbs

My herb garden is officially dead. A small patch of hardy chives struggled for survival very bravely for a while, but was thwarted by the fact that I didn't water it for several weeks. Poor things didn't have a chance, really. Inklings is over 18,000 subscribers! Heard tracks from Scott Snyder's new album (BARDIC LUG) and they sound great!!! (my opinion is only slightly influenced by the fact that UT participates on a few of the tracks) Scott's releasing his album at OVFF. Today's site is Scott's page, The Hedgehog Rampant Inn and Tavern.

explosion

Tanya Bellavia (Rand's wife) is sick! Feel free to send her get-well email. [ 9:38:55 AM ] Being addicted to the net has its advantages, I suppose. I was going to do some food shopping at the Loblaws on Yonge between Richmond and Adelaide (downtown Toronto) this morning but delayed, just to "do one more thing online". Anyway, turns out there was some kind of explosion in that area about an hour ago, a couple people hurt. No one's really sure what caused the explosion yet. In any case, I think I'll stick around the apartment for a while longer since the area's closed off. :\ [ 5:30:56 PM ] The explosion was caused by a collision between a Brinks van and a van carrying oxygen. Today's site is The Dorsai Irregulars. Fun and informative site! :)

fune

Sent out Inklings today. This week's issue has an interview with Jane Yolen, for those interested. Went for sushi last night...our current favourite sushi hang-out is Fune, which is on Simcoe St. just north of King. This place has the best salmon sashimi (on most days, anyway; I've only been disappointed once). You can sit at a regular table or at the bar, where you can watch sushi-laden boats float by on a miniature river that circles the sushi bar, picking out whatever catches your fancy.
Going to the Metro Toronto Zoo today with Allison, John, Rand and Tanya...can't wait to check out those Komodo Dragons! :-)
Today's site is the homepage of Graham Leathers, charming and talented Canadian filker!

patience

It started raining yesterday just as we pulled into the main entrance of the zoo, of course. Still, it was fun wandering around and checking out the various exhibits. The Komodo Dragons were a bit of a let-down after the media hype and long line-up of people waiting to get into the exhibit (they could have been stuffed mutant alligators with severe eczema for all I could tell). My favourite (and Allison's) exhibit was the one with the Pygmy Marmosets...soooo cute! The Sloth Bus was also amusing.
I am currently looking for a good/detailed logging web stats program: if anyone knows of one, please let me know.
Site of the day is David Goulden's page...cool Java animation at the entrance point. David was UT's main sound engineer for Myths and Urban Legends and has the patient of a saint.
[ 3:42:21 PM ] Eek! That should be "patience", not "patient". Thanks for pointing that out, Lissa. To Jason: California rolls, yum! To Scott: hey, a Blatherings award! Great idea. I'll have to make it small yet obnoxiously ostentatious....hm, lemme think on this. To David: like your stream of consciousness blatherings. :-) To all those who have no idea what I'm talking about, check out the current blatherchat. By the way, I'm in ecstasy! Recently discovered software that handles bounced messages from mailing lists (like Inklings)! Woohoo! Thanks to Geoff Duncan (the tech guy at Tidbits) for the tip. I am very happy right now. Happier, of course, once I've got it all properly installed and working.
