Squirrels Are Evil And Are Taking Over The World
Debbie's first solo picture book, which features bibliophile SQUIRRELS:
Squirrels are taking over the world! Don't believe me? Read my About Page, browse my squirrel photos/pics and follow this blog as well as my Squirrels Are Evil And Taking Over The World Facebook page. To see past entries, browse the Beware The Squirrel Archives.
And my picture book featuring Evil Squirrels (ok, maybe more bibliophilic than Evil) is now available!

Scientists in Russia have grown plants from fruit stored away in permafrost by squirrels over 30,000 years ago, according to the BBC.
My friend Dave Weingart sent the link with the comment, "Maybe not all squirrels are evil."
My answer: HA! I'm sure those squirrels from ancient times were storing away those seeds as part of their plot to take over the world. Do the scientists REALLY know the longterm ramifications of nurturing those miniature potential time bombs into maturity?
This only goes to show you how deviously patient these squirrels can be.
BwaHAHAHAHA!!!
Thanks to T.J. Burnside-Clapp for the link. If you have trouble seeing the video above, you could try watching it on YouTube.
From my friend Mary B.:
Not sure where it was originally posted.
I am so terrible at needlework so am not sure if this is called needlepoint or cross-stitch, but it's by my friend June King:
Gorgeous piece, even if it IS of a squirrel! :-)
From June, who says that this guy is stealing her walnuts:
"I love stitching things with a squirrel theme. I actually like the little beggars. And the Red Squirrel is becoming somewhat rare in its home territory (England). I picked this piece because I also like the watercolor work of Marjolein Bastin, the original artist. She specializes in painting animals and nature settings."
Cuuute glove squirrel/chipmunk! Thanks to Alice Ching-Chew for the image.
My only fear: This depiction of squirrels gives people the mistaken impression that squirrels are cute and loveable while downplaying their Evil Horde World Domination aspect.
I did some hunting around, and it looks as if the image is from Happy Gloves: Charming Softy Friends Made From Colorful Gloves (HP Trade, 2008) by Miyako Kanamori. The info about how to make the animal softie was provided on this Etsy post courtesy the Penguin Group.
One of my Daily Drawings. Yes, I had squirrels on the brain. For more of my Daily Drawings, visit DebbieOhi.com.
Thanks to France Andrews Zeve for directing me to this bizarre story of purple squirrels.
Though I still can't help but think this photo was Photoshopped. Too strange!
Thanks to Christie Harkin for alerting me to this disturbing slide show on the Time Life website. Apparently a woman in the 40's actually adopted a squirrel and dressed it up in various costumes.
Eek!
