Daily Doodle: Experimenting with Photoshop

Learning Photoshop

I have to admit that I'm enjoying Photoshop way more than I expected. I have so much more to learn, and there are things from Painter that I really miss, but I can see why so many people like Photoshop. I can also see why so many pro illustrators use BOTH Photoshop and Painter at the same time.

I'll do a more detailed comparison of the two (from a Photoshop newbie's perspective) when I've had a chance to use Photoshop a while longer.

Daily Doodle: First drawing with Photoshop!

GirlNotebook 500

Ok, my friend Russ Cox from Pixel Shavings has inspired me. He's decided to learn Painter and has posted his first piece created using the software, so I decided to get off my butt and do the same for Photoshop. I've been going through lessons in Lynda.com, but have been lazy about actually USING the software.

So...I'm going to be doing some of my Daily Doodles using Photoshop from now on! Thanks for the inspiration, Russ.

I did the piece above pretty quickly (as I usually do my Daily Doodles -- trying to stay sketchy), though I had to hunt and peck around for some features like choosing a brush and choosing colors. Still have a LOT to learn!
