Harp on Christmas morning

Finally ordered strings to replace the missing ones one my Celtic harp from North Shore Strings. New strings still need to settle in before I can properly tune them, but here's my rusty warm-up on Christmas morning. I've been neglecting my poor harp for years!

Doodle: Dancing Nose-Man

Children's book author Erin Dealey gave me a Nose-shaped pencil sharpener at the SCBWI Summer Conference in LA last month, and challenged me to put it into a doodle.

And some of you have probably guessed, I try to avoid obvious found object doodles whenever possible. Or rather, I find that when I'm trying to think of a doodle for an object, the first thing that comes to mind is usually one I pass over. I love the challenge of coming up with something different.

For the Nose, I found that the solution was simple: just turn it upside down. Nose-Man needed something to dance to, of course, so I added coffee bean music.

Doodle in ink and petunia

It's raining this morning in Toronto, so I had to shake raindrops off the petunia before starting to draw.

I love creating found object doodles and post them on Instagram"Found Object Art" gallery on Flickr, Pinterest, Tumblr  and in my Found Object Art portfolio.

I'M BORED music video

I'm Bored Music Video (inspired by the new picture book from Simon & Schuster BFYR) from debsanderrol on Vimeo.

Thanks to Errol Elumir of DebsandErrol.com and his 7-year-old daughter for making the book music video above possible! You can find out more about how the song and music video were created in the I'M BORED Scrapbook. Note that the story in the picture book ends differently; to find out what REALLY happened to the potato, do buy the book. :-)

Revamped Pig On A Piano

If I like one of my Daily Drawings enough, then I'll revamp it. This was one of those instances. Changes I made: widened the image, made the piano lid open so that the open bit faces the audience, added a bit of woodcut look finish. I was pretty happy with the results...so much so that I decided to do another in my pig series (see next post).
