relax, it's only sex

Am staying home all weekend to catch up on work, but am determined to keep my evenings offline. Went out last night with Helen, Doug, Scott, Craig, Graham, and Jeff and saw "Relax, It's Only Sex". We all enjoyed it; I especially loved the opening bit. (Warning: explicit sexual scenes and content!)

I am dying to see Sixth Sense, which has gotten rave reviews from several of my friends. Everyone I know seems to be out of town this weekend or has already seen the movie, however, so I'm going to go see it tonight by myself.

Sadly, it looks like we may not be able to get the movies we picked for the Toronto Film Festival...although you have to buy your coupons ahead of time, the actual tickets for each movie are now assigned in random order. Everyone puts their ticket requests (first and second choices) into one of many boxes, and the orders are filled box by box, with the first box being picked randomly. It turns out the box containing our ticket requests is going to be last! Ah well...perhaps we'll be surprised. :-)

Bug seems to have faded fast, yay!

sixth sense

LOVED this movie, and plan to see it again next week.

I've pretty much finished the text for my Nahanni trip report, will add photos next week. In spite of the fact that I still haven't been able to scrub some of the dirt out of my skin (I suspect it will just have to wear off), I find myself missing the Nahanni river. I've been emailing a bit with one of the women I met on the trip; we'll be going to Eden Mills Writer's Festival together in a couple of weeks.

I've also ordered a huge pile of Inkspot pens, which I'll be handing out at Toronto's Word On The Street at the end of the month. If any of you want one and are planning to be at OVFF, please let me know and I'll make sure I bring one for you.

work-stressed

Worked yesterday (it was LABOR DAY after all :)), am a bit work-stressed today. And there's no chocolate in the apartment! Also, Black's seems to have lost all seven rolls of my trip photos, sigh. They are looking for them; cross your fingers for me.

Update: Ack, I feel so stupid...I had called the wrong Black's outlet! Most of my pictures are here, two more rolls are late (which means if they do come in tomorrow, I only pay half-price). I'll be adding pics to my report over the next few days.

The Toronto Film Festival opened last night. I came home after UT practice and found the front of our building (which also happens to be the front of Roy Thompson Hall) milling with reporters, flashing lights, limos, people in formal wear. Supposedly some Hollywood types were attending, but I didn't have the patience to wait around to see.

Went to the Pickle Barrel with Jodi and Allison, gabbed a lot, then spent most of the evening preparing packages of songbooks, CDs, and tapes to send to the UK in preparation for our guesting at Didgeriz-Douze.

Went to my sister's place on Wednesday night. Sara invited me to participate in a pillow fight on her parents' bed upstairs. I agreed, but then found out that only ONE pillow was allowed, and that was hers!

Went to see Sixth Sense again, this time with Jeff.

Today's Blathering photo is from the canoe trip: Frebis and me near the top of Sunblood Mountain.
