hottest day of the summer

Went cycling with David for a couple hours this morning, up the Don Valley Trail to O'Connor...really good ride. The Don Valley trail is my favourite so far, mainly because of the variety of scenery and terrain, and it isn't as crowded as the Martin Goodman.
By the time we got back (9 am), temperature was picking up...radio predicts that today is going to be the hottest day of the summer.

Busybusy. Going to California for a week starting next Tuesday (writers' conference), so I'm trying to put together two issues of Inklings this week instead of the usual one. I'll be taking a laptop with me, so will hopefully be able to get some work done on the road as well.

careening

"Busy" level increasing exponentially as I try to get as much work done as possible before I leave on my trip next week. Sent out Inklings late last night. Today I am trying to (1) cope with usual slew of post-Inklings email (2) revamp Inklings page (3) prepare some promo material to take to the conference with me (4) pack for California since Jeff & I are going to Detroit this weekend so he can meet his new niece Olivia for the first time and I'll only have one day home next week before I have to leave (5) figure out what to get Sara for her birthday! her birthday party is on Sunday (6) working on a database problem in my guidelines library, need to get work on this started before I leave! (7) pack for Detroit (8) get a camera battery (9) try not to stress out too much (HA! HA!)...eating the last of the chocolate truffles I stole from Mark Osier helped. :-)

Going out on a date with my friend Craig tonight. (hi Jeff! :-))

UPDATE: Ok, I was only kidding about going out on a date tonight!! I'm still happily married!! Everyone can stop sending me nuptial condolences and biblical references now. Craig's an old friend (in terms of how long we've known each other, not in terms of age) with whom I have been sadly out of touch, so we've decided hang out a bit this evening. Going to see a movie with other friends after dinner...I think it's called "Something About Mary", with Cameron Diaz. Should be fun.

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo.

I need a holiday.

geeky theft

So I found out today that someone's scooped several geeky school photos from my contest page, including mine and Rand's, for use in an article for bud.com. I'm, um - flattered (flattered, yeah, that's the right word :-))- that they found my school photo geeky enough to put near the top of
the article, but I kind of wish they had asked permission first.

Had fun with Craig. He was horrified that I linked to his webpage yesterday because it's so boring. "Something About Mary" was amusing, but not really my kind of movie.

Fun practice with Jodi and Allison, put some of our new songs on tape for the archives ("Monday", "Parody Man", "Duct Tape Man"). Also sampled different kinds of fudge that Allison bought at Centerpoint Mall.

Going to Detroit this weekend to visit our new niece and her parents! Back Sunday.

troy blatherings

So I'm in Troy, MI, editing my blatherings through my sister-in-law's browser. Have been bonding with my 6-week-old niece Olivia. :-) She let me change her diaper, give her a bottle, and made several interesting expressions when I sang her my new "Going To The Moon" song. Tomorrow we're going to our other niece Sara's birthday party (she turns 4). Jeff went shopping today and bought an ant farm for her. Oh boy, is my sister ever going to be pleased... >:-D

Leaving for Michigan today...I might be blatherchatting, though (depends on how much internet withdrawal I go through). Hope to see some of you at Confusion!
