alien resurrection

Saw Alien Resurrection on the weekend with Jodi. It was okay, but I didn't think it was as good as the second one (I've never seen the first one).

x-files

Time seems to speed up as the end of the year gets closer, have you noticed? Can't believe it's already December! Am starting to go into a slight pre-Christmas panic mode as I'm realizing how many things I have to get done within the next few weeks. Eek. Forgot to blather about Sunday's X-Files episode. I wasn't really keen on the previous two episodes, so I'm glad to see they're getting back to some interesting plot and character developmentstuff. Had lunch with Cathy today (Cathy is the one who turned Jeff and I into hopeless X-Files addicts, by the way). I definitely have to write an X-Files song next year. Speaking of new songs, I've almost finished an a capella song for UT which should be fun to do. It's the first deliberately a capella three-part harmony song I've written for the group, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. I taught part of it to Allison and Jodi last week; with luck, we'll have this ready for Confusion.

blue jays

Went to a Blue Jays game at the Skydome last night, courtesy our 7-year-old friend Michael Cecutti who had a pair of extra tickets. I've started setting up my Sea Monkey kit! Am purifying their home even as I type (that was what Package 1 contained...water purifier). Site of the Day:

norm brown

Did some experimenting with online white pages today (see today's Editor's Ink for details), looking for a guy I used to have a crush on back in Grade 8, Norm Brown. If only Norm had a more unusual name! Ah well. My current favourite people search engine is Four11. What about you lot? I've also grown curious about some of the "free email address" offers cropping up all over the net. I've signed up with Bigfoot as an experiment. I picked "avoidspam@bigfoot.com" as an email address and plan to use it when posting messages in newsgroups from now on. Supposedly Bigfoot has spam-filtering built-in, but I'm taking no chances and am filtering any messages sent to my bigfoot email address into a pseudo-trash mailbox. Bigfoot appears to offer free email addresses, autoreponder, forwarding to multiple addresses, filtering.

ben & jerry's

I am woefully behind in email; please forgive me if I've been lax in answering your messages. Had a good practice with Allison and Jodi last night. They learned my new friendship song (or what I've written of it, anyway, I'm nearly done), which was a relief since this is probably the most complicated song I've written, at least in terms of scoring out each vocal part. We'll be debuting it at Confusion. We're also working on doing a cover of "Prince Of Darkness" (Indigo Girls), which is a lot of fun. Finished off a container of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey icecream (thank you, Rand!). My favourite B&J's flavour is still Chubby Hubby, though. I mourn the fact that there is no Ben & Jerry's in Toronto. :-( I still haven't gotten confirmation from Bigfoot about my email address...hm. This morning, Jeff and I went to Sara's first Christmas pageant at her nursery school. Woke up at 7 a.m. and drove in rush hour so we could get seats for an event in which our niece would probably be onstage for, oh, maybe two minutes in total. But it was well worth it. :-) Sara's class did a very simple play in which one little boy was the "snowman" and the others took turns decorating him in pairs. Each pair danced or marched to a different musical theme (Sara was a toy soldier). Most of the children (2- and 3-year-olds), however, wandered out onto the stage only to be struck by stagefright/awe as they gazed out upon the sea of faces/camcorders/cameras, then had to be nudged gently off the stage again by their teacher. It was hilarious and utterly delightful. And WOW, were there a lot of cameras (yes, of COURSE I had mine, as well as a tape recorder). Paul Kwinn is sick. :-( Please send him get well email.
