insomnia

Back at home, not feeling that great today. I think I need more chocolate. :-) The real cause, I suspect, is insomnia...I tend to get it from time to time, haven't found a surefire natural cure. Suggestions welcome! Forgot to mention that it was Allison's and John's sixth wedding anniversary on Sunday. Today's picture (see above) is of my husband Jeff. Check out the ears. :-D And the tasteful plaid jacket; Jeff and I were destined to be together...if in doubt, check out MY plaid (I'm the one on the right). About to start wading through my post-cottage biz email; wish me luck.
Today's Site: Insomnia Cures - links to interesting sleep-disorder sites around the web, support groups, discussion forums. [3:01 PM] Recently I've been getting a lot of email enticing me to joining various "web rings" or "loop links"...this must be the newest netfad, I guess. Basically, you insert yourself into a chain of websites, each linked to the other with a recognizable logo or button. A neat idea, though I find the content quality often varies a lot through the ring/loop because anyone can hook up. If you're interested in this sort of thing, you should check out http://www.webring.com or http://www.looplink.com. I think there's even a filk webring around (I recall getting email about this once a while ago, but lost it)...if anyone has info, I'd appreciate hearing about it (put "filk webring" in the subject header, thanks).

tom smith interview

Sent out Inklings yesterday. Tom Smith's interview is now online. UT practice tonight. Allison has successfully raised two tamagochi dinosaurs...meant to mention this earlier. Lazarus turned into an angel, and Chip (a tyrannosaurus rex) turned into a devil. My dead herb garden is still sitting in the window; only the chives have survived. I might reward them by replanting them in a separate pot so they're not faced each day with the withered remains of their compatriots each day. Sea monkeys are thriving; for the first time I'm wondering what I'm going to do when I run out of food. I've made the UT site part of the Filk Webring (see the bottom of the main page to find out more.
Site of the Day: Selena Sol's Public Domain CGI Script Archive and Resource Library. Amazingly wonderful resource for CGI programmers. Free scripts, links to other script archives.

banana slugs

Highly entertaining practice last night. Allison and Jodi surprised me by performing a parody of one of my songs by Phil Allcock (lyrics posted soon). Also, Paul Kwinn had sent us a truly creative package themed largely upon The Banana Slug Song (anyone who has seen us perform this song in children's concerts knows why this is one of our favourites) and included a banana slug stuffed toy, a slug picture book (excerpts coming soon), and a banana slug postcard (see above photo excerpt). Today is Godfrey Joseph's birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GODFREY! Am unbelieveably behind in email; please forgive me if I seem to be ignoring anyone's email...I'm not! Really!! It's all been carefully filed, and I hope to catch up next week. Going to visit my in-laws this weekend...my mom-in-law turns 60! Feel free to wish her a happy birthday but be sure to mention that you know me (else she'll wonder what the heck is going on :)).

ed wright

Congrats to Phil and Lissa, who sold their house earlier this week! (thanks to Anne Walker for the info) Today's site is Ookla The Mok (non-) Official Fan Club Page. VERY cool-looking site! I am truly impressed. Sound clips, photos (some obtained with permission from our site :)), Rand blatherings, lyric archive. Maintained by Ed Wright and Scott Edersheim. When asked to divulge some info about himself, Ed volunteered the following:

I was born 1/24/72 in Newark, Ohio and was raised in the miniscule community of St. Louisville, Ohio, both of which reside in the central portion of the state in Licking County about an hour or so mostly east and a bit north of Columbus. I went to Utica High School from which I graduated in 1990 and enrolled in a ridiculously small baptist college in southeastern Kentucky called Cumberland College. I transferred after my freshman year and spent the next four at the Ohio State University from which I graduated in Spring 1995 with a B.A. in English. Currently I reside in Columbus, Ohio where I work for a logistics management company called Rail Van, Inc. which specializes in third party transportation logistics and management. I am the Administrative Coordinator for the Highway division. As such I perform as the liason between operations and I.S. (systems), and the liason between operations and accounting. I am also a database analyst, and design software used by operations on our AS/400 mainframe. I aspire to one day soon become a full time writer and get paid for it and am collaborating with Scott (the other maintainer of the OTM page) on a fantasy novel that will hopefully, if published, bring some originality to a genre fraught with imitations. In my valued spare time I help maintain the OTM page, listen to music, play on the internet, and watch football (Go Bucks!)
