When Debbie's illustrations were nearly finished, she started brainstorming ideas of the cover. Here are just a few:
Everyone liked the first idea the best, so that's the one Debbie developed into a cover.
Debbie also needed to choose a dedication that would appear in the front of the book. She decided to dedicate her first solo picture book to her editor, Justin Chanda, because he was the person to give Debbie her first book contract.
Soon the color proofs arrived! It was exciting to see the book cover jacket:
And even more exciting when the F&Gs (unbound printer proofs) arrived:
And then a big box arrived with copies of the actual book!
